The Duomo Statue in Milan
A statue from Milan’s Duomo, an old church in Milan, has a new home. The statue, “Bearded Saint with Book,” was fixed in the “Adopt a Statue” program.
Building the Duomo church started in 1386 and took more than 500 years to finish. Many statues were made, and now they need to be fixed. The program asks companies and people to give money to fix the statue of “Bearded Saint with Book.” Those who give money can borrow a statue and show it for a short time. This statue is now at Piazzale Cadorna, behind a glass window at the main office of FNM, a regional transport company in Lombardy.
A staff member said the program helps restore statues that people usually cannot see. By showing them, many people can feel the history of the church and know the story behind.
