German museum opens a big Yayoi Kusama show
Museum Ludwig in Cologne opened a big show about Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama on March 14, 2026. The show celebrates the museum’s 50th anniversary. It will go on until August 2, 2026, and it has more than 300 works in the show.
Visitors can see Kusama’s famous Pumpkin, many pictures with dots, and a new Mirror Room. This is a room with mirrors that make the space look endless. The show also tells the story of her long art life from her first drawing in the 1930s. Curator Stephan Diederich said the show shows a rich and creative life over more than 80 years.
Kusama is now 97 years old and has lived quietly in a clinic in Tokyo. She still makes art every day.
