Toronto hides 51 beaver statues for a World Cup game
Toronto, Canada, is hosting World Cup matches, and the city has created a fun game for visitors. It is called the Great Beaver Quest. Players look for 51 beaver statues hidden around Old Town Toronto, an old neighborhood in the city center. Each statue has a QR code for a digital treasure hunt on the player's phone.
The organizers chose beavers because the beaver is Canada's national animal. Each statue is almost 4 feet (1.2 meters) tall, and a different local artist painted each one by hand. Most show the countries playing in the World Cup, and two of them are for Canada. Two more represent FIFA, the World Cup's organizer, and all the countries together.
The quest began on June 1, and it will run until August 16. The goal is to bring more visitors to Old Town Toronto and enjoy the area. After the game ends, the statues will be sold to help charities.
