Australia bans fully AI-made songs from music charts
Australia's music industry made a new rule. From August 31, 2026, fully AI-made songs cannot enter the country's official music charts.
People started talking about AI in music after one hit song. An Australian music producer changed a famous song by Madonna, an American pop singer. The song is "Like a Prayer." He used AI to create new voices and drums. This version became very popular. In May 2026, it reached number two on a big Australian chart. On August 25, 2026, it was still number four.
The music industry worries about AI. Many people now make songs with AI tools. This can hurt human artists and their work. So the new rule protects them.
The rule bans only fully AI-made songs. Some AI-assisted songs can still enter the charts. For example, humans must write the song, sing the lead vocals, and play the main instruments. They must also use legal AI services.
