$7K worth of Labubu dolls stolen from LA store
A group of thieves has stolen Labubu dolls from a Los Angeles-area toy store, authorities said. The dolls were worth about $7,000 (¥1 million).
They were stolen on Aug. 6 at a store in La Puente, a city about 30 kilometers east of Los Angeles. The suspects used a stolen car in the theft, which was recovered afterwards.
Labubu dolls were created by Hong Kong-born artist Kasing Lung. They have been popular collectible items for ten years.
The toy store One Stop Sales said on Instagram that thieves stole all its Labubu dolls and left a mess. The store posted a video showing people in hoodies and masks breaking in, looking through items, and carrying boxes out.
“We are still in shock,” the store said in its post, urging people to help find the thieves.
