Chile zoo gives animals an Easter egg hunt
Children usually hunt for Easter eggs, but this egg hunt was only for animals at a zoo in Chile. On April 5, 2026, Bioparque Buinzoo, a large zoo near Santiago, held a special egg hunt.
The egg hunt takes place every year to entertain visitors and to help animals practice their natural food-hunting behavior.
Zookeepers put small bags in the animal areas for small cats. The bags looked like Easter eggs but had meat inside. Small cats, like caracals, jumped up tree branches to get the food.
A meerkat found a basket with eggs between some rocks and sniffed around before eating. Monkeys and lemurs got fruit hidden in brown paper bags with bunny ears.
The zoo director said the treats were not chocolate eggs, but foods the animals eat in nature. He also added the event has been held for 16 years.
