Fox found on ship from England is now at Bronx Zoo
A red fox got onto a cargo ship and traveled from Southampton, England, to New York. The fox is now being cared for at the Bronx Zoo.
On March 11, 2026, the zoo said the male fox looked healthy after its first health checks. Keith Lovett of the zoo said the fox seems to be doing well now.
No one knows how the fox got on the ship. The ship was carrying cars and left Southampton on February 4, 2026. People on the ship found the fox during the trip. The ship arrived at the port in New York and New Jersey on February 18, 2026, and zoo workers took the fox to the zoo on February 19, 2026.
For now, the fox is staying in the zoo’s animal hospital and eating fruit, vegetables, and protein-rich food.
