Children collect marshmallows dropped from a helicopter
Children in two parks near Detroit ran to collect marshmallows dropped from a helicopter. The annual Marshmallow Drop, run by Wayne County Parks, took place in Trenton, Michigan, and Westland, Michigan, two hours apart. Hundreds of kids at both parks watched the helicopter fly over the grass. A passenger dropped thousands of marshmallows from a bag. The helicopter made three passes so participants in different age groups could all take part.
Officials told participants not to eat the marshmallows because they had fallen on the ground. Instead, they could trade them for a prize.
Some children picked up more than one marshmallow, but some parents put extra ones back on the grass so others could get one too. A parent who attended for the first time said everyone behaved well and there was no pushing or fighting. Another visitor said it was a great way to start the Easter weekend.
