Dad chefs share their dream Father’s Day meals
In June 2026, three dad chefs talked about their dream Father's Day meals. All three said being together with family is more important than the food.
Tom Colicchio, a chef and restaurant owner in New York, wants to eat outside. He hopes his oldest son will cook smoked short ribs on the grill.
Cesar Zapata, a chef in Miami, wants to go fishing with his stepson. He hopes to catch fresh fish and cook it simply on the grill. Zapata said that the best meals are often simple ones shared with family.
Roy Yamaguchi, a chef from Hawaii, wants all his children at home. His dream meal is shabu shabu or chankonabe. These are Japanese hot-pot dishes. Everyone eats from one pot at the table.
Yamaguchi said that food is not the most important part of Father's Day. He said that meals give people a reason to gather.
