World Cup stickerbooks bring fans together in Argentina

On May 10, 2026, many fans met in Buenos Aires to exchange FIFA World Cup stickers. With less than a month until the World Cup begins, sticker trading has become a popular activity for fans across South America.

For many years, the stickerbooks by a company called Panini, have been popular among World Cup fans. People use WhatsApp, a messaging application, and websites to trade stickers. In South America, exchanging stickers is even more important than simply collecting them.

“This connects you with the world. Everyone does it,” said Juan Valora, a fan who was collecting stickers with his girlfriend.

This year, Panini launched its largest sticker collection ever. The number of countries in the World Cup increased from 32 to 48. Each pack contains seven stickers and costs about $1.50.

A child psychologist said the activity also helps children learn geography and basic math skills.

The legendary stickerbooks will come to an end after the 2030 World Cup when Fanatics takes over as FIFA’s sticker partner.
