Tennis star gets college degree at 82
Billie Jean King got her degree at age 82. She walked across the stage at Cal State Los Angeles, a university in Los Angeles, on May 18, 2026. She graduated with about 6,000 other students.
King first went to the school in 1961. But she left to play tennis professionally. She won many big titles. She became one of the best players in the world. She also worked hard to give women more chances in sports.
King always felt bad about not finishing school. So she decided to go back to school two years ago. She studied history and finally got her degree.
At the ceremony, King gave a speech to the students. She told them that people should keep learning and follow their goals at any age. After her speech, she hit tennis balls into the crowd. Many students cheered for her.
