Disneyland Paris opens World of Frozen in major expansion
Disneyland Paris opened World of Frozen on March 29, 2026, as the centerpiece of a 2-billion-euro plan that also renames Walt Disney Studios Park as Disney Adventure World. The new land lets guests step into Arendelle, with an ice mountain, Elsa’s palace, a Nordic-style village, and a family boat ride that carries them past familiar scenes from the movies.
The event was the first major international test for Josh D’Amaro, who became Disney’s chief executive on March 18, 2026, after many years leading the company’s successful parks division, now one of Disney’s most profitable businesses. On stage, he called the opening “a transformational moment” and said that storytelling is central to Disney’s films, parks, cruise ships, and experiences at home.
French President Emmanuel Macron visited on March 27, 2026, describing Disneyland Paris as Europe’s leading tourist destination and an important part of the French economy. The expansion is expected to create about 1,000 direct jobs and build on more than 445 million visits since 1992.
Disney also stressed the land’s European roots. Frozen is loosely based on a story by Hans Christian Andersen, and the nearby Tangled ride comes from the Brothers Grimm tale of Rapunzel. A new Lion King area is already under construction, showing that the growth of Disney Adventure World will continue in the coming years.
