Jell-O adds products with natural colors and less sugar
Food company Kraft Heinz said on May 19, 2026, that it will sell a new Jell-O gelatin dessert product line made without artificial colors or artificial sweeteners. The move reflects growing demand for foods with natural ingredients and less sugar.
The new line is called Jell-O Simply. It includes ready-to-eat gelatin in orange, raspberry lemonade, and blueberry flavors. The products use fruit juice, vegetable juice, and other natural sources of color. They also contain at least 25% less sugar than regular Jell-O.
Kraft Heinz plans to expand the Jell-O Simply line in August 2026 with pudding and gelatin mixes. The company described this as part of a larger shift toward natural ingredients. Sales of gelatin products with artificial colors have fallen in recent years, according to market research company NielsenIQ. The U.S. government and some stores have also asked food companies to remove artificial coloring from products.
In the summer of 2025, Kraft Heinz announced that it would remove artificial colors from all U.S. products by 2027. However, the company added that Jell-O Simply will still be needed because some regular Jell-O products may continue to use artificial sweeteners.
