Fans wait until midnight for Murakami’s new novel
There is a new book by Haruki Murakami, a famous Japanese writer. It went on sale in Japan on July 3, 2026. Many fans went to a big bookstore in Tokyo at night. They bought their copies at midnight, just when it came out.
The title is "The Tale of KAHO," meaning it's the story of a woman named Kaho. The book is Murakami's first long novel with a female main character. Murakami said Kaho is a picture book writer and a young woman. But strange things begin to happen around her. He added that he imagined he was Kaho while he wrote the story.
The main characters in Murakami's stories are usually men. So this news surprised many fans. Naoyuki Yamano was the first customer to buy the book. He said he was excited to see how the story would develop around a woman.
